YSWN FS Hosts a Psycho-Education Event with the Parent-System
Young Social Workers Network Free State Chapter commemorated Child Protection Week 2025 by hosting a Psycho-education capacitation training in partnership with Tswellang Special School in Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa. National Child Protection Week is commemorated nationwide annually to raise awareness of children’s rights as articulated in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and the Children’s Act (Act No. 38 of 2005). Tswellang Special School is a public school that provides mainstream education and support services to physically challenged and disabled learners from Grade R to Grade 9. The school caters for learners who need high levels of physical and psychological support. The language of learning and teaching is Sotho from Grade R to Grade 9 and English from Grade 4 to 9.
The Focus of this session was to provide Psychoeducation and support to parents with physically challenged children at the school.
